Looking to the Heavens Polaris Society
When Manuel Bettencourt '68 served on the AOG Board in the 1990s, he helped form the Polaris Society to recognize persons, like him, who arrange for future support to the Academy.
"I'm proud to have been involved, and the Polaris name should inspire all USAFA grads to leave a legacy gift through their estates," says Manuel. "I'm pleased to see a renewed emphasis by the USAFA Endowment."
The Georgia native was an intel officer, then received a divinity degree to become a chaplain. He returned as a line officer, retiring as a Lt Col in 1989. Now living in Hilton Head, business interests and six years as Chair of the Savannah River Site (DOE) Advisory Board have kept him busy.
